Had to take a break...

I've been MIA, because Little Man caught a bronchial infection.  His pediatrician isn't calling it RSV, but treating it as such, because their office doesn't test for RSV.  Anyway, so I've had Little Man at home with me all week.  And that has been a challenge.  Between trying to work my job, my business, care for him and all that... it's been tiring.  Hubby was only able to stay home one day, Wednesday, so I was busily trying to do as much as possible in that one day.

Anyway, I had a few moments and wanted to wish everyone Happy Friday!  Hope all my friends in New England/East Coast stay safe and don't get hit too hard by the hurricane.

Pinterest Pin Success!

So, to preface this post, I am not a cook.  It's not that I don't know how... It's just that I hate cooking.  That being said, I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some lemon chicken.  Every time we go to a Greek restaurant, I order Avoglemono Soup (lemon, rice, egg soup... oh, if it is done right, it is to DIE for!), and lemon chicken.  Problem is that hubby doesn't like lemon.  Makes it hard to make lemon chicken, when he's home.

So, because he's traveling, and my parents are here... I made YUMMY lemon chicken last night.  (Here's the link again:  http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/browse-all-recipes/pan-roasted-chicken-lemon-garlic-green-beans-10000000780291/index.html)  And here's a picture of how it turned out... I didn't have green beans, so I made it with just the potatoes.... and then made a side of other veggies (corn, asparagus, & carrots), instead.  OH MY!  It was yummy, if I do say so myself.  :)  (Not to toot my own horn)

So yummy... so I definitely call that a Pinterest Success and will be making it again.  Heck, hubby might even like it... the chicken itself wasn't too lemony... but the potatoes were a bit more.... still SO yummy!

Happy Friday, y'all!

Thursday Musings

Well, what to say today?  I'm exhausted... hubby is travelling yet again.  He left early this morning.  And Little Man decided that 5 am was wake up and play time.  Yeah, I wasn't so amused.  Coffee was my BFF this morning.

Anyway, tonight's dinner is a recipe I found on Pinterest....  here's the link:  http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/browse-all-recipes/pan-roasted-chicken-lemon-garlic-green-beans-10000000780291/index.html

It looks yummy... and I promise to take pictures of the finished product and let you know how it turned out.  So stay tuned.

Here's to a great Thursday!

Okay... so...

Consistency isn't a big priority on my blog lately.  Life has been crazy, just like I'm sure it has for you all too.  My parents are arriving today, and I haven't seen them in several months.  My parents live in Michigan in the summer... this year it was from June through now.  And Florida for the rest of the year.  Tough life... I know.  But my dad has worked very hard to provide that kind of life for my mom and well for my sister and I, when we were younger.

Anyway, I'm SUPER excited, as is Cutie!  She LOVES LOVES LOVES when Grandmother and Grandfather come into town and stay with us.  (Or we go to their house and stay with them.)  I knew I would never really live too  close to my parents, after I went to Florida for college.  But I also thought I would be living in Tampa or St Pete or some place like that in Florida... not moving around the country every so many years.  But life has a funny way of working out.  Hubby and I will move back to FL, once he's finished in the military (meaning.. when he retires).  But until then, I'll take any time I get with my parents, when they want to visit or we visit them.

It's just a shame that my sister and I don't live near each other.  I mean, I know that our kids will know each other, but it's just not the same.  I grew up, because times were different, with my cousins.  We saw them if not every week, at least once or twice a month, as well as for all major holidays and birthdays.  We were as close as we could be, considering the age difference... my younger cousins are about 10 years younger than I am... and my older cousins are 5-10 years older than me as well.  But I don't plan to move back to Chicago, especially since my parents no longer own a house there.  And I know my brother-in-law doesn't plan to move back to FL, although he did live there for some time, before they moved back North.  He just doesn't like warm weather...  Makes for an interesting relationship.  My sister doesn't really like cold weather.  HA!

Okay, seriously, I digress...  today is Hump Day!  YAY!  Happy Hump Day, y'all!  I guess, I'm just deep in thought about how busy we all get, what with kids, jobs, families, life...  it's crazy!

Well, at least we are one day closer to the weekend!

Friday Funday!

It's finally Friday! Yippee!!!! I don't know about you, but my week seemed to crawl along, which isn't always a bad thing.

I am looking forward to just vegging tonight... with no kids backpacks to repack tonight, or homework to make sure is done.  Just chill.  Work out and chill.  Also catching up on all my DVR'd shows, with the hubby of course.

Anyway, what big plans do you all have for the weekend?  Us - cleaning up our mess of a house.  My parents arrive this next week.  So gotta get the house clean.  I'm also trying to wash all the old baby clothes to get ready for consigning them.

I did find a "fabulous" way to get those phantom spots out of clothes.  But so far, it hasn't really worked.  I think I'm going to go back to my Dreft, Oxyclean & HOT HOT HOT water & let soak for 24-48 hours.  It worked wonders when Cutie was a baby and would have blow outs or baby food stains on clothes.  And if the spots just don't come out... well, I'll just have to throw them away or see if someone wants slightly stained (I mean the stains aren't too noticeable... just those stains that remain... you know the ones where you wonder if it is a stain or your eyes playing tricks).

Anyway, Happy Friday, y'all!

Happy Hump Day!

It's Hump Day again...  one day closer to the weekend.  WAHOO!  I really don't have much to write about today, but just wanted to wish everyone "Happy Hump Day".

So this week, I am bound and determined to make my daughter some hair bows.  I get so tired of her hair being a mess for school.  So, I found some cute ribbon, that matches her uniform, and will be making them.  I will post my finished result, but here is where I am getting my ideas from:

http://blogs.babble.com/babys-first-year-blog/2011/11/10/40-hair-bow-tutorials/?pid=3210#slideshow

I also wanted to say... "Hi, my name is Liz and I am addicted to Pinterest."  There I said it.  I admitted it.  I have a problem pinning so many ideas, and haven't even started to scratch the surface of them yet!  The hair bows will be one of the first that I am attempting.  So I'll let you all know how it goes.

Monday Funday

Well, I hope everyone had a great weekend.  The weather around here turned, seemed like over night.  This morning we woke up to 50's!  YIKES!  That's cold for this time of year in NOLA.  And yesterday barely reached 70!  All last week it was still warm... in the 80's, and sunny.  And it is supposed to get back there by the week's end.  But this just leads to sickness around here.

Anyway, that's not what today's post is all about.  Now, I know you all know that I'm on a quest to get back in shape, be in better health and loose some weight.  So, I found something on Pinterest, yes, I am addicted.  It is a DIY body wrap.  CRAZY, I know.  I usually don't believe in those things... but something told me to try it.  It consisted of using "Farewell to Cellulite" gel (the Equate brand, found at Walmart), Vitamin E oil, and Saran Wrap, or plastic wrap.  You rub the gel and oil on the part of your body you want to wrap, wrap it with the plastic wrap and then sit under a warm blanket for 45 minutes to an hour. (I used a heating pad, the original poster on Pinterest used an electric blanket)  I did an hour.  You are supposed to sweat, which I didn't.  But I do have to say that I did loose some inches.  I tape measured myself right before and right after, and then I measured the next morning and the next night.  So here's what happened, right after I finished, I lost 1 inch all over (oh and I wrapped my waist).  By the next morning, I lost a total of 4 inches.  By the next night, I lost another inch.  Then I did another wrap, and lost another inch.  By the next morning, I was down half an inch, and by the next evening I was down a total of 5 inches.  I didn't change my eating habits or water consumption or anything like that.  I am not sure if it is lasting.  But I'll keep you updated.  I am going to try to do 4 wraps this week, on 4 consecutive days.  And report my findings by the end of the week.  I do have to warn you, though, I am running again this week, changing my eating habits and starting back on Bios Life Slim.  (If you want to know more about that, email me or send me a message!)

So, happy Monday, y'all.  Let's make today a GREAT day.

Thursday Musings

I have the best hubby ever!  He's been traveling for the last month, literally.  So it has been Little Man and Cutie and myself 24/7.  It isn't easy and I commend all those single mothers out there.  I don't know how they do it ALL the time.  I'm screaming for a break right now... but I know I won't be getting one until MAYBE Sunday.  But seriously, my hat goes off to all those single mothers out there.  You should be celebrated!

Anyway, so back to the reason my hubby is awesome.  We were texting this morning about our 5 year old, Cutie.  She is such a character... I am SO much!  And at times, she is very trying.  I know it is her job to test the waters... and she does a great job at it.

Anyway, ran out this afternoon on my lunch break, came back and found a note that someone had delivered something and it was next door with my neighbor.  (What a sweet man, and not bad to look at either... hehehehe, don't tell hubby.  Hey, I'm married, not dead.  I can notice when something or someone is nice looking.)  Anyway, hubby sent me flowers.  I never get flowers, because I am allergic to most flowers.  But here they are!  So wonderful.

Hump Day!

It says it all!  One day closer to the weekend.  I used to love weekends... sleeping in, playing outside, just relaxing.  Life changes when you insert an infant into the mix.  Although, Little Man isn't so much an infant any more... he's 5 months old now!  YIKES!  Time has flown.  Anyway, that is not what today's post is all about.

I am fed up.  Fed up with the weight that I have gained.  It is making me unhappy and well, I have a closet full of cute clothes that I can't wear right now.  Call me cheap, but I also DON'T want to buy new ones, although I do love shopping!  LOL.  Seriously, though.  So I decided I was going to try a 3-day jump start to my diet.  It hasn't been easy... especially with my daughter selling chocolate for a fundraiser for school.  Chocolate is a weakness of mine.  {Sigh}  I am trying to have will power... and so far, yesterday, so good.  Let's hope I can hold out.  I tried to give up coffee yesterday, but tea just doesn't cut it for me.  To bitter... and not strong enough.

Anyway, the other thing I am back on, well, once it arrives, is Bios Life Slim.  I tried it a year ago, and had great results... and this time, I think I'm going to have even better results, because a) I have more weight to loose starting out, b) I'm exercising again, and c) I am attempting to eat more cleanly... lots of fruits and veggies and lean meats and not so much the processed stuff.

I will post my results, and maybe some pics, if I'm brave enough.  But definitely my results.

I also am going to try a few other things and will post about those, when I finish them.  I am a skeptic about most things... pretty much, I feel, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  But I will review what I've done and my results, so that you all can try it as well.

Anyway, off to work I go...

Oh yeah, follow me on Pintrest, if you want...  http://pintrest.com/violets1211

And Happy Hump Day, Y'all!
